The Bird is on the Wing is a group exhibition celebrating nature’s awakening, offering two distinct yet complementary perspectives on the season’s transformation; one grounded in vibrant growth, and the other a whimsical take on the absurdity of life in bloom. Two worlds collide; rebirth and growth are intertwined with a surreal distortion. Curators Stella Smith and Lydia Dickens seek to create an experience that captures the joy and the unexpected beauty of spring. The exhibition is a light-hearted exploration of the absurdity of nature’s rhythms.

With works by: Finlay Abbott Ellwood, Emilia Momen, Almudena Romero, Isabella Vella, Rachel Hertz, Jade Delmage, Nooka Shepherd, Georgina Odell, & Kusuma.

The show is inspired by an Irish limerick taught to Stella by her grandfather, Martin Smith (originally written by Spike Milligan).

Spring has sprung, the grass is riz,
I wonder where the birdies is...
The bird is on the wing, but that’s absurd, The wing is on the bird.
